The last month or so...

So since November... Well a few weekends ago the US NAvy came to town..! Which needless to say was hilarious. Was so stange seeing so many white people everywhere (and blck people- even stranger!) Were we live in Wanchai there are loads of strip bars and brothels so it was v amusing to walk down the street to the pub and see everyone of them brimming with sailors! They were even getting dragged in off the street. Had a wicked night out anyway, chatting to them, made a fun change from old drunken white men with wives etc at home ;) Then last weekend I had my "English Funfair" at school, yes I had to go in on a Saturday! When I say funfair, it was actually about 10 stalls with games involving English that we were trying to get prospective P6 students to play in a bid to make them think our school is great, which it is of course! So last week was pretty mad preparing for that. This week has been a bit quiter, have tomorrow of as today and yesterday were sports day. It's a very serious occasion here, so many kids were stretchered off, was quite hilarious! I even won a medal... Came third in the teacher's javelin, another bizarre HK experience! I had to collect my medal during the closing ceremony, walk through all the gathered kids, was chuffed to hear lots of cheers though- at least they weren't booing! Tomorrow night we're having our Chatteris "Christmas Party" We've hired out a victorian tram and are boogying for a few house before heading to Lang Kwai Fong for some Cavern action... Can't wait! Enjoy the photos!

Busy, busy, busy

Things have been soooooooooooooooooooo busy recently! At the beginning of November I had a few days off school (kind of like mid-term but not really) which was really nice, but I kind of felt that when I went back to work I had taken 3 steps forward and 2 back... Took me a while to get back into the swing of things. I also had my school picnic during that week, which is basically when each year goes to a different place around HK and has a bbq. I went with the S6 to Stanley Beach which was fun. It's crazy though, they're allowed to light their own bbq's, I def thought I was going to come home with 3rd degree burns! Since I've been back at school it's been go go go. My three S2 (Pinky, Apple and Jessica) students that I've been training for the speech festival are taking part in the competition tomorrow so i'm nervous for them. They'll be great though, they've worked so hard. I'm really proud of them :) Along with training them I've been training a whole S3 class (40 students) for the Choral Speaking part of the competition. They have a few more weeks to train, and are coming along nicely. Today I was stuck at school till about 5, was fun though but now I'm totally knackered. My schools hosting an 'english funfair' on the 2nd of december which i have been made project manager for... great! So I've got a lot of work to do for that, along with lessons etc. Am def looking forward to Xmas hols. Not long to go now.

Halloween Highjinks

Last night we went to a fancy dress party at some of the guys house in north point. It turned out to be quite a messy night... but I was good, at home in bed by 1am :) (In case you're wondering who I am, I'm Midas's girlfriend! Inventive I know, it was the best I could do at Wanchai market)

Pictures from Macau

Macau

Yesterday me, Nikki, Ben and Robyn took the boat to Macau. It's about an hour away from HK on a high speed turbo boat. When we arrived Ben decided it would be a good idea to hire a tuk tuk to take us from the ferry terminal to the old part of Macau... there began possibly the most scary/funny/hilarious 20mins of my life! Me and Nikki were in one and Ben and Rob in another. They are basically littly buggies with bikes on the front. Our driver was the oldest most decrepit looking man I have ever seen, he barely looked like he could walk, let alone pedal the two of us along motorways, up hills and round round-a-bouts! Oh yes, these weren't little country roads we were meadering along, they were motorway-type roads and streets packed with cars. Me and Nikki spent most of the journey wetting ourselves at how hilarious it all was. The poor man did well, there was one point when we went up a slight slope where he stopped and I thought we were going to have to get out a push but luckily he recovered and carried on our death trip! He also took it upon himself to be our makeshift tour guide... which entailed turning around to speak to us every so often (whilst veering towards the traffic) simply smiling, saying "Casino" and pointing... I should say that basically the only reason anyone ever goes to Macau is to gamble, it's like the blackpool of China... classy! Bless him though because everytime ben turned around to take a picture of us he smiled. So anyway, we survived the ride, even though I was reluctant it turned out to be the best part of the day. We had a wee wander round the centre, where we were randomly interviewed by a bunch of school girls for a school project, had some food, and basically got the ferry back. Was a really fun day.

Lunch Radio

Today me and Chris were interviewed by form 1 students on the lunch radio. It was hilarious, as we were rehearsing the mike broke, we were all in hysterics. They were so cute, am very jealous that I don't have any form one's, just nasty form 3 :( I've pasted a copy of the script cos it's so cute:

Yesterday was 'English Day' at my school. Basically this means that lots of English activites were organised for the kids and run by English Ambassadors (keenos!) They had song dedications, tonge twisters, puzzles and games. For everything they did they would get a stamp and then if they filled up their vard they'd get a prize at the end of the day. It was quite weird to walk down to the playground to here Shayne Ward blasting out! Who knew he'd gotten this far! Not I!! I think this is also the only country on the planet where Westlife are still cool. Well, I'm glad for them that there's still at least one ;) The kids would also get a stamp if they talked to me or chris so we were literally accosted by hundreds of kids. Was really fun! Made up for the fact that I had two of my nightmare classes yesterday. I proplerly lost it with a few kids. I sent one girl out of the classroom, and when i let her back in she sat giving me evils the rest of the lesson, made me laugh! Just chilling today, am out to meet duncan (one of the old project managers tonight) as he's visiting from Austrailia- where he moved. So that should be fun. And tomorrow we're off on another junk boat trip to lamma and stanley. Haven't been to Lamma Island yet so am quite looking forward to it. We booked our flights for xmas this week. We had fun last weekend going round loads of travel agents trying to explain that we wanted to go to thailand for xmas! Most told us that xmas prices don't come out till november. I asked my Net teacher about this and she said it was bollocks so we decided this is what they tell the white people so they pay higher prices cos they think we;re all rich- we're not!
